BELFAST TWELFTH JOINS THE TWITTERSPHERE

In a first for the Twelfth celebrations in Northern Ireland’s capital city, live updates will be provided to the public via social media.

In an innovative move, the County Grand Orange Lodge of Belfast will showcase the colour, pageantry and music of the parade to online users.

Content and information will include live video streaming, updates on the location of the parade, the food festival at City Hall, street entertainment and toilet provision.

A spokesman said: “This online initiative is another component of the ongoing development of Orangefest and making our celebrations available to a wider audience. If people need to know it, we will share it with them.”

The Twitter development follows the launch of a promotional video encouraging all to come and enjoy the Belfast Twelfth.

The city parade is one of a total of 18 demonstrations across Northern Ireland.
